From April 14 to 19, 2014, Zen Masters Bernie Glassman and Grover Genro Gauntt will lead a Bearing Witness Retreat in Rwanda to mark the twentieth anniversary of the genocide in which Rwandan Hutus claimed the lives of an estimated 800,000 Rwandan Tutsis. The retreat will be sponsored by the Rwandan organization Memos: Learning from History, the Hudson River Peacemaker Center, and the Zen Peacemakers. Attendance is limited, but you can reserve your spot now at this website.

The website explains that “the retreat will be multi-faith and multinational in character, based on the Zen Peacemakers’ Three Tenets: Not-Knowing, Bearing Witness, and Loving Action.” Meditation and other contemplative practice will take place at and around the Murambi Genocide Memorial Centre and remains of some of the dead there. In addition, “participants, including Rwandans who experienced various aspects of the Rwandan genocide, will meet daily in small Council groups designed to create a safe place for people to share their inner experiences. The whole group will meet in the evenings to bear witness to stories of survival, as well as themes of anger, guilt, forgiveness, and reconciliation. FMZO Paul Lynch Gets Around PayPal`s Nonprofit Frozen Accounts, USING PEOPLE!

It would seem the same person that has acted as an abusive Dharma teacher under the FMZO Bill Murphy, one that I wondered about myself while going through a class of his if he was real or some plastic toy that plays monk in his lavish life, that teaches koans and is not authorized to scratch a pimple, I have found via students that he in a round about manor pushes and forces actions not in line with teaching ethics under the Vinaya rules of conduct, shaking the faith of others is a  direct violation to move to disrobing under these set rules. as such I have prepared a complaint to the Vinaya board of ethics to go with Mr. Paul Lynches actions.

Now we find Paul is using Bill Murphy to collect his funds behind the back of PayPal`s freezing of FMZO`s account for nonprofit fraud.

Self Proclaimed Zen Teachers Do harm To Students

Student Comment:

Does this mean that the IBMC will try to split Paul’s group off from their organization? My understanding is that there are many sincere priests and nuns at the IBMC. Not sure how Paul pulled off merging with them or with the Buddhist Studies Institiute, which is now a part of the College of Zen Buddhist Studies. Now 5M priests have taken Vietnamese names! As for Bill, he tries, but I lost respect for him when he reprimanded me on Facebook! Whether or not others ordained through 5M will stay is an open question. No matter; they are free to move things forward, if they can, and we are free from them.

Student Comment:

Just unfriended Paul and a few others from 5M. I don’t have to use him as a reference because my reputation remains pretty good. I unfriended from the 5M order’s web page as well. The less I’m connected, the better!

This is a cause that needs to be addressed for the benefit of all, just one is all the merit of life times:
Just wanted you to know that I’ve officially dropped out of the CZBS and I’ve severed with my 5 Mountain teacher, Bill Murphy. I’ve connected with a new teacher and I’m moving forward. Thank you for letting me know what was up! “…… thank you!

“The Lady” shines her light in DC… Photo by the author.

I still can’t quite believe what happened last week: I was in our nation’s capital with Amnesty International, my palJoshua Eaton, and others for a very special event with none other than Daw Aung San Suu Kyi herself!

As a practitioner who has long been an admirer of “the Lady,” as well as a scholar with an abiding research interest in her, I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled I was to see her in person — and from the press box with Joshua no less!

On that note, I hope you will head on over toBuddhadharma: The Practitioner’s Quarterly Online, where my report on the event has just been posted (along with full video of the town hall).

I’ve blogged a lot about “Daw Suu,” as a search of her name at this website will reveal. Most recently before this report, though, I reviewed Luc Besson’s recent biopic The Lady for Shambhala Sun Space. (The film comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray in the U.S. this coming Tuesday, October 2nd, by the way.)
